Eric L. Toscano, Esq. CEO & Managing Attorney
I enjoy being a plaintiff’s lawyer because I get to represent
people who would not otherwise be able to hire an attorney.
There’s nothing more satisfying than working with single mothers,
immigrant families, and individuals struggling to make ends meet.
I became a lawyer because I wanted to help people. I love my work
because that’s exactly what I get to do.

Recently named a 2016 Top 40 Under 40 Litigation Attorney in the State of California by the American Society of Legal Advocates and Northern California Rising Star by Super Lawyers for the past three years, Eric is passionate about the practice of law—particularly courtroom advocacy.  He represents tenants in disputes with landlords and individuals who have been injured.  He has defended tenants in unlawful detainer (eviction) proceedings, and pursued claims against landlords arising out of illegal evictions from rent-controlled apartments, tenant harassment, defective conditions and repair issues, rodent and other pest infestations, and floods.  He also represents pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers who have been injured due to another’s fault.

Born in the South Bay and raised in the Central Valley and Wine Country, Eric earned an undergraduate degree in economics from Stanford University.  He earned his law degree from UC Davis School of Law, where he was student bar association President, a member of the Moot Court Board, and one of ten students in his class selected for membership in The Order of Barristers, a national honor society dedicated to excellence in oral advocacy.  During law school, Eric also worked as an intern in the Government Division of the Office of the City Attorney of San Francisco, and as a judicial extern to the Honorable Morrison C. England, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California.

After two and a half years as an intellectual property litigation attorney in the San Francisco office of the international law firm Reed Smith LLP, Eric left to establish his own solo practice, Toscano Law, in 2012; a law partnership, Toscano Kellogg & Van Aken LLP, in 2014; and Toscano Law Group, PC in 2016.

When he’s not advocating on his clients’ behalf, Eric also enjoys giving back to the legal community through his involvement with the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF).  He has been active in BASF’s Barristers Club, which includes law students, legal professionals, and attorneys in their first ten years of practice.  From 2012 to 2013, he was a member of the Barristers Club’s Board of Directors, serving as Board Vice President in 2013.  He has volunteered as a mentor in BASF’s Mind the Gap Program, an initiative that provides opportunities for unemployed and underemployed attorneys; and as a Mentoring Circle Leader in a pilot program launched by BASF in 2014 that provides professional advice and guidance to new practitioners.  In 2014, BASF named Eric a 2014 Barrister of the Year for his “constant support and enthusiasm for the club” adding that “[h]e continues to mentor and assist new attorneys looking to start their own firm.”  He remains involved in BASF’s Solo/Small Firm Section.  He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Eviction Defense Collaborative, a San Francisco nonprofit that helps low income tenants fight unlawful detainer (eviction) lawsuits.

When he is not working on behalf of his clients, Eric enjoys spending time with his wife Stephanie and young son Henry and visiting his family in the Wine Country.
